Meandering, soft bottomed river floodplain with herbaceous communities (Calamagrostis canadensis, Carex utriculata, Carex stricta) nearest the river on levees, and swales. Extensive alder stands back behind the herbaceous communities cross the floodplain for miles.;Herbaceous community on lower terraces and swales along meandering, slow moving stream. Dominated by Carex stricta with a few forbs hiding in its shade. Herb types along river likely maintained by frequent high energy floods and sedimentation.

Entire long patch on lower terrace, crosses side channel also a liitle slop on side from Spiraea ecotone. This is a relatively small stand but the community repeats in patches probably for miles. Clear dominance by Carex stricta. This is the largest patch
